The Foundation contributes $ 24 million to the MHI for its Training Centre for Excellence in Cardiovascular Health
During a press conference this afternoon at the Montreal Heart Institute (MHI) attended by Dr. Yves Bolduc, Minister of Health and Social Services, Henri-Paul Rousseau, a member of the Board of Directors of the Montreal Heart Institute for 15 years, and its Chairman since last June, announced that the Foundation will make a major financial contribution of $24 million towards the construction of the Institute’s Training Centre for Excellence.
$24 million in funding from the Montreal Heart Institute Foundation
"In 2006, to support the development plan of the Montreal Heart Institute, Investir dans l’excellence (Investing in Excellence), the Foundation undertook the largest fundraising campaign in its history, Heart Beat for the Future, which was co-chaired by André Desmarais, Serge Godin and Michael Sabia, outstanding leaders whom I would like to thank. The response of our donors was excellent, especially since they proudly contributed to the implementation of several of the Institute’s priority projects, including the construction of the Training Center for Excellence in Cardiovascular Health," said Henri-Paul Rousseau.
"Our donors, through their generosity, showed in a tangible way, the importance of supporting the Montreal Heart Institute, one of the best cardiology and research centers in the world," added Mr. Rousseau.

MHI’s Training Centre for Excellence in Cardiovascular Health will provide a wide range of facilities and leading-edge equipment, including in particular a multimedia auditorium, a critical care simulation laboratory, and videoconferencing and on-line training rooms. It will position the Montreal Heart Institute as a leader in cardiovascular training.
Construction of the Training Centre is part of the Montreal Heart Institute’s development plan, Investir dans l’excellence (Investing in Excellence), the first phase of which took shape with the construction of the University of Montreal’s Beaulieu-Saucier Pharmacogenomics Centre, the expansion of the Research Centre and the operating block, and the modernization of several pieces of cutting-edge medical equipment.
