The gift of self: Volunteering

Volunteering is noble and vital to society’s well-being. Working behind the scenes more often than not, some 230 volunteers are key contributors to the Foundation’s mission. Whether serving on the Board of Directors or its committees, or volunteering to support the Foundation’s staff during events and day-to-day activities, every one of our volunteers makes the Foundation shine, from their exceptional commitment and skills, their willingness to lend a sympathetic ear, to their passion for the cause and their compassion for others. Their work goes hand in hand with that of the Montreal Heart Institute staff who give selflessly when supporting their foundation. Every volunteer helps save lives in his or her own way.

Thinking of volunteering?
There are a number of activities you can work on to help the Foundation achieve its goals. You will also have the satisfaction of:

  • Contributing to the Montreal Heart Institute's well-being;
  • Learning something new while helping others;
  • Making new friends among Foundation volunteers and employees.

How may I help?
Volunteers are involved in various activities. You may choose tasks that interest you and select your own schedule during the week.  You are, of course, free to stop at any time.  The following are a few tasks that are given to MHIF volunteers

  • Communication
    • Text editing and reviewing
    • Translation
  • Public and internal events
  • Public relations and sales
    • Calling donors to thank them
    • Information kiosk
    • Work in the Gift shop
    • Sale of promotional items
  • Administrative support
    • Updating computer lists
    • Stuffing of envelopes
    • Answering the phones
