History of the Bal du Coeur

  • In 1998, Mr. Tony Meti decided to raise money for the Montreal Heart Institute Foundation.
  • He pictured an evening attended by guests who cared about the heart cause, where couples could eat well, dance and have fun some time around Valentine's Day, the holiday of the heart.
  • Supported by major partners, sponsors and a team of fundraisers, the first Bal du Cœur was launched in 1999.
  • He response was incredible: first the Italian community, and then the business community, embraced this large-scale campaign
  • The results: after only six years, over $2.7 million was raised for the Montreal Heart Institute

Concept
It's a prestigious black-tie Valentine's Day ball with a gastronomic dinner followed by dancing.  Tables of 10 are sold at $10,000 and 450 to 500 guests usually attend.

Our dedicated organizing committee
Responsible for organizing the event and selling the tables, the organizing committee is made up of a president and four members. For the 1st year, the president was Tony Meti, who founded the Bal du Cœur. Joey Saputo presided for the next 3 years and was succeeded by Tony Loffreda in 2003. Tony Loffreda took the helm for the 2004 ball, supported by Tony Meti, Joey Saputo, Dana Ades and Benito Migliorati.
