On September 19, 2005, the Montreal Heart
Institute inaugurated three new laboratories at its Research
Centre, including Dr. Jean-Claude Tardif's atherosclerosis lab,
Dr. John Rioux's genetics lab and Dr. Michael Phillips'
pharmacogenomics lab. Many guests attended the inauguration. The
new labs confirm the MHI's commitment to the genetic
revolution, a commitment it plans to further in the years to
come. It also underscores the MHI's ability to attract
researchers of international calibre.
The ceremony was an opportunity to thank the MHI
Foundation for its $3,235,000 contribution to the project, namely
the enhancement of the three laboratories, located on the 6th
floor of the Jean-Louis-Lévesque Pavilion, and the
relocation of offices in prefabricated units (for 3 to 5
years).
The generosity of Avrum Morrow and that of his
friends and colleagues was also acknowledged during the event
since it made possible the purchase of a laboratory workstation,
the Beckman Coulter-Biomek FX, valued at $455,500.
